Per square metre
The price for one square metre of tile, with VAT included so you can compare like for like. Some retailers list prices without VAT (mostly the trade ones); we add 20% so the numbers match.
Project total
Your room size × the tile price, plus a bit extra for cuts and breakages. We default to 10% — that's what tilers normally allow. If you're laying herringbone or a more complex pattern, bump it up to 15%.
Total delivered
Project total plus the retailer's delivery cost to your postcode. Stone is heavy, so it almost always comes on a pallet. We use each retailer's published rates; one pallet covers about 30–36 m² of 10mm slate.
How often it's checked
